Jess is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with over 14 years clinical experience, and over 12 years’ experience in renal nutrition. Jess has a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics and PhD that looked at how digital technologies can be used to improve health behaviours for people with kidney disease. She was a finalist for the 2020 Young Investigator Award through the Australia and New Zealand Society of Nephrology.
In addition to her practice at Forum Specialists, Jess is also working as a research fellow at the Clinical Trials Centre at the University of Sydney and as a Senior Renal Dietitian in the St George Hospital Kidney Supportive Care clinic. Jess led the development of the first practice recommendations for people with kidney failure who choose conservative kidney management (i.e., non-dialysis).
She is passionate about providing patient-centred care, making dietary education accessible and motivating people to promote dietary behaviour change. Jessica’s website on renal nutrition can be accessed here. Her philosophy is that you are the expert of your body, and her major focus will be working together to improve your health through nutrition. Jess has extensive experience in working with people with chronic kidney disease, people receiving dialysis, people choosing to have conservative (non-dialysis) kidney management. Nutritional management in kidney disease aims to slow the progression of the disease, manage any symptoms arising from kidney disease and manage other conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, that impact kidney disease.
She also has experience working with people who have diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome and those who simply want general healthy eating advice.
