Dr Akshay Athavale, is a dual trained nephrologist and clinical pharmacologist who provides medical expertise in the treatment of all facets of nephrology including glomerulonephritis, diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, kidney stone prevention, management of chronic dialysis and kidney transplant recipients. He also provides expertise in the quality use of medicines, particularly in those with kidney disease where drug handling is significantly altered. He has published in international peer reviewed journals encompassing both nephrology and clinical pharmacology. Dr Athavale’s research interests focus on drug pharmacokinetics in acute and chronic kidney disease.
